CC Connect - A way to coordinate the push for alternative licensing within collecting societies
Many collecting societies, with the german GEMA being one prominent example, rely on exclusive rights management agreements with musicians, thus do not allow for alternative licensing (using CC licenses or others) by the individual artists themselves. The musicians interested in trying CC licensing are usually not among the big players in the societies and have little, if any, weight in the self governing process of the society they are members of. CC Germany want's so set up a meeting point for these musicians in order to facilitate a coordinated effort to change the exclusive deals so that they allow for alternative licensing. Examples like the North-American collecting societies but also the Danish KODA and the Australian APRA demonstrate that exclusive deals are not the only way.Anyone interested can contact us (see http://de.creativecommons.org/kontakt). The place to meet in person at the all2gethernow #camp will be announced on the day itself.
What would you pay for? And how?
part of changing your business is listening to your customers, other part is expressing how you want to be paid for your work. We are customers and sellers at the same time, so I want to start with this question: If you want new music (or other cultural stuff), what would you pay for? And how? This will be an etherpad-session, so people who are not joining the session will be able to take part in editing the pad and chatting: http://etherpad.com/wouldyou
Feel free to start editing the pad whenever you feel like contributing to that topic!
Session language up to now is German, but that will depend on the participants.
SOCIAL MEDIA MONITORING
Utilising new media forms to build and further your fanbaseFlorian Siepert (mindmatters GmbH & Co. KG)
Mathias Hielscher (Virginia Jetzt!)
Where do people listen to my music? And what else do they have to say about my act? Can I talk back to them? Where do they live? And what do they as fans expect from the artist?
Florian represents software development company mindmatters, who develop the social media monitoring tool cloudtracker.fm . He'll show some stats and graphs whilst trying the impossible - to be fun at the same time.
Mathias will share his experiences as a musician in using social media monitoring from weird Star Trek screensavers to twittering cats.
Session can be held either in English or German. Questions? Get in touch with Florian on his mixxt profile: http://community.a-2-n.de/networks/members/profiles/index.siepert77
